May 28, 2013- Until We Meet Again

"Tonight was an amazing night. I was set apart as a full time missionary. Wow. Even thinking about it blows my mind. Tomorrow I will enter the MTC and be a representative of my Lord Jesus Christ. I've always wanted to serve a mission. I can't really pin point an exact experience that made me decide I wanted to go. My dad would tell me some incredible stories of his mission (he served in Birmingham England). He told me of people who weren't even interested in the church until they had some miraculous experiences or just felt the spirit testify to them of its truthfulness. One of my neighbors took the missionary discussions in my family's home. As I sat in and overheard the lessons taught by the full-time elders the spirit was tangible. There's nothing more amazing than the feeling of the spirit. I saw this same neighbor get baptized and feel the joy of the gospel. When I was writing a talk on missionary work I asked her why she thought it was so important to share the gospel. She said, "when you know something GREAT, you just want to share it." I couldn't agree more. This gospel truly is great.  I remember some spanish sister missionaries just stopping at my house for a moment a few years back. Their spirits just radiated. I thought to myself: "I want to be like them. They are amazing." But why I really want to serve a mission really comes down to this: I know the church is true. Some may question that statement, but with ever fiber in my being I know it. I have read the Book of Mormon and it brings me such happiness as I read of the prophets of old. It makes me want to be a better person. When we are obedient to our Heavenly Father, he blesses us even more than we could ever imagine. It's true and it brings me so much happiness. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God who was divinely called of God to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth again. I cannot wait to serve the people in the Jacksonville, Florida mission. God is so good. I can't wait to serve him full time."
Love,
Sister McCall Sarah Jensen
